The "Parador Museum" of Granada, located in the grounds of the Alhambra and Generalife, will be the first Parador of Andalucia and the third of the country to become a museum and display pieces of artistic value as the tomb where rested the Catholic Monarchs, The Gardens of Paradise, the Arab hammam or the Board Room.
The Parador Museum is one of the highest rated hotels in Granada by visitors for its privileged location and its services.
Paradores President, Miguel Martinez, explained at a press conference that this Parador shows all the secrets of the Convent of San Francisco, where have been installed 33 informational signs on the most important places to visit, and whose data are also included in a guide published for the purpose.
Among the aspects that are included in the guide we can find the history and architectural relics of the old Moorish palace, the special relationship of the Catholic Monarchs with the monument, the transformation of the convent and its evolution over the centuries, or the environment of the Alhambra and the Generalife.
Martinez has indicated that the building's history is long and is full of ups and downs that have brought "from absolute greatness to the largest declines."
It also brings visitors to Granada two key figures such as Washington Irving and Federico García Lorca.
The public hotel chain plans to convert about 50 Parador in museums throughout the country, including those of Oropesa (Toledo), Úbeda (Jaén), Sigüenza (Guadalajara), Hondarribia (Guipúzcoa), Santo Domingo (La Rioja) and Cardona (Barcelona).
